Working again with the Friends Center for Children, a collective housing program for educators and their children was imagined at an open site along the Quinnipac River.
Observed passing through the site:
water down the river
people along the street
school buses across the bridge
teachers, moving in and moving on
and their children, ever growing.
A library program combined with a reinstated CTtransit bus stop at the front of the site encouraged new and old kinds of passing through.
A series of courtyards linked by a covered awning created new varying public spaces through which to pass.
While waiting for the bus, one can take a covered walk through the courtyards,
and reach through a cabinet in the library wall to take or leave a book.
